As well as being a wonderful experience, singing in the Festival has also enabled my students to develop necessary life-long skills. (Janine, Choir Trainer)

The Festival

What is the Catholic Schools Music Festival?

The Catholic Schools Music Festival is held annually at the end of Term 3. Each year more than 2000 students from Catholic Schools in South Australia take part in the Festival.

In 2017, sixty-two Catholic Primary Schools will have students participating in the Festival Choir. Each performance consists of 800 students in Years 5 to 7 from a different combination of these schools.

This year two performances will be held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Throughout the evening, their song brackets are interspersed with performances by Support Acts which consist of soloists and ensembles who are selected by audition from Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools across the state.

Statement from Minister Susan Close MP

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the 2015 Catholic Schools Music Festival and to the teachers and parents who supported them.

For 25 years, the Festival has given students the opportunity to experience performing in a professional setting and showcased the wealth of talent across South Australia’s Catholic school sector. I was fortunate to be in the audience during one of the 2015 Festival concerts and was incredibly impressed by the  excellent performances.

As these students know, it takes great commitment and dedication to be a singer or musician, but the rewards are great - the chance to express yourself and to entertain and inspire people.

Well done to everyone involved in delivering a really uplifting Catholic Schools Music Festival in 2015 and my best wishes for a fantastic 2016 Festival.

The Hon Susan Close MP

Minister for Education and Child Development
