Denise Rothall

Music Director

Denise Rothall is a graduate of Flinders Street School of Music and Adelaide College of the Arts, where she gained her Bachelor of Education in Music and Drama. She also holds an A.Mus.A. in piano.

As Music Coordinator at Marymount College, her passion for choral music grew. Denise was accepted to further her studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, USA where she completed a Master of Music degree, majoring in choral conducting under the tutelage of Constantina Tsolainou, and orchestral conducting with Dr David Milnes.

Denise has been invited to present workshops and work with choirs in both Adelaide and interstate as a guest conductor. She is also Music Director of Cantabile Singers.

Pamela Buccini

Pamela Buccini, musician, arranger, composer and examiner, is in her fourteenth year as pianist for the Catholic Schools Music Festival, having previously spent some years as choir trainer at Stella Maris Parish School, Seacombe Gardens.

A graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Pamela relocated to Adelaide in 1977, taught group and private lessons for the Yamaha Music Foundation and is currently the Head Teacher and Director of the Adelaide Yamaha Music School.

In addition to teaching piano at Sacred Heart College Middle and Senior Schools, St. Mary's College, St. Michael's College and Westminster School, Pamela is an AMEB examiner in piano and is the SA consultant for electronic organ. 
 

Samantha Taylor

Festival Coordinator

After completing a Bachelor of Music in Flute in SA, Sam has enjoyed teaching, directing small ensembles, tutoring at music camps and freelancing in SA and Victoria for over 25 years.

 During her time in Victoria she undertook a Graduate Diploma in Arts & Entertainment Management through Deakin University and she gained a number of Arts Administration roles in Victoria prior to returning to South Australia for family. Sam sought to continue her passion in music education and for eight years taught Kindermusik music & movement classes to children aged birth - 7yrs; a rewarding and life-skill experience she greatly values.

Sam is currently Instrumental Music Coordinator at Mercedes College and is the Administrator for SA Music Camp. She is a member of the Adelaide Wind Orchestra, and also continues to enjoy freelancing.

Her role at the Catholic Schools Music Festival sees her running the operations of this event; fulfilling her commitment to providing performance opportunities for young people to experience and enjoy.

Russell McGlone

Support Act Coordinator

Russell began studying at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide in 1996 and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. Being passionate about education, he went on to further his studies and completed a Graduate Diploma of Education in 2008. During this time he worked as a professional musician.  

Since 2016 Russell has played drums with the Music Festival’s Rhythm Section, which has included many Catholic school music students and teachers over the years. He accepted the role of Support Act Coordinator in 2015 and continues to be amazed by the quality of student performances each year on stage at the Festival.

Russell is currently Music Coordinator at Kildare College, and he continues to work regularly as a freelance musician.

Loretta De Palma

Strings Coordinator

Loretta De Palma studied classical violin and teaching, and completed her Bachelor degree at the Elder Conservatorium at the University of Adelaide in 2004.  She has performed with many local artists, musicians and ensembles and has recorded with jazz musician, Timothy Davey.

Loretta also conducted and lead the York Peninsula String Orchestra. She has played in many musical productions in South Australia, including those put on by the State Opera of South Australia.
 

Currently, Loretta is teaching Music and Performing Arts and is the Strings Coordinator for the Catholic Schools Music Festival.
 

Saz Burton

Senior Boys Vocal Ensemble Support

Saz Burton, music educator and jazz vocalist, completed her Diploma of Teaching at Salisbury CAE, her Bachelor of Music Education at Adelaide CAE, and after finding the inspiration to learn as much as possible about vocal jazz ensembles, completed a Master of Music Education at Western Michigan University in the USA. While there, she was inducted to the Greek society ‘Phi Kappa Lambda’, which honours musical and academic excellence.

Amongst many other wonderful experiences, she had the privilege of performing  in vocal jazz ensembles alongside artists Bobby McFerrin, The Real Group, Don Shelton, Don Burrows, James Morrison and others. Currently Saz is the vocalist for Adelaide based Lindy Hip Big Band, and regularly performs in ‘A Tribute To George’ (Harrison) at the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

Saz spent 17 years as music educator and vocalist in Alice Springs, and has enjoyed the past 17 years at Cabra Dominican College, teaching and being involved with the Catholic Schools Music Festival as a Choir Trainer, and most recently, supporting the Senior Boys Vocal Ensemble.
